Ancient Truth: A Survey of the Wisdom of the Hebrew Scriptures

Where does one go for wisdom? We have plenty of options in these days. We have more information available to us than in any time in human history. Not only has more data been archived but with the help of internet search engines, we can access it with ease. The trouble often comes with what to make of the information we are receiving. AI tools are developing that give us a summary of information at times; but they fail at providing anything amounting to real meaning. Making meaning of the data, interpreting the information in ways that make it useful to our lives is the function of wisdom. Where does one go for wisdom? 

In our Wednesday Bible studies this fall, we will turn to some of the oldest written texts available to us—the wisdom literature of the Hebrew Bible—in our search for every day, practical wisdom. We will spend the fall surveying the books of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs from the Old Testament. (You might want to read ahead this summer!) We will offer two sessions again this fall beginning August 19: 4PM in the Fireside Room and 6PM in Fellowship Hall.
