LOGOS MINISTRY

FOR SENIOR ADULTS

LOGOS is a comprehensive ministry designed for adults age 60+ and is led by Calvary Baptist Church’s (CBC) Associate Pastor Hank Ellington. The practical leadership for LOGOS will come from the LOGOS Council which is made up of representatives from all LOGOS Sunday School classes and the Calvary Baptist Church at large. Contact Hank Ellington via email or by phone for more information on how to get involved.

CBC Seniors Go, Do, Learn, and Serve Together

LEARN

LOGOS will provide structural leadership/teacher training, equipping/ outreach leadership and more, for the following Sunday School classes which are also a part of LOGOS.

Learn More
  • Adult SS Classes — 3rd floor, Education Bldg 2
  • Pastor’s Class — Conference Room

DO

Mission service and support will be a key gear of LOGOS ministry. LOGOS participants will have the opportunity to do hands-on mission service.

Learn More

Coordinated Mission service for LOGOS adults will include Mission/Service trips in our state and region which are designed specifically for LOGOS adults. CBC is surrounded on all sides by incredible mission opportunities:

  • The ROC (Recreation Outreach Center) a veritable “Treasure Chest” of mission service possibilities
  • College Ministry needs all kinds of support as we reach out to the thousands of students living in close proximity (as close as 150 ft.)
  • Calvary’s Mission Lexington, located just across the street on MLK Boulevard

SING

LOGOS adults will be encouraged to share their musical gifts through participation in choral and instrumental groups, including the handbell choir.

Learn More

Working within the Music Ministry, music education classes will also be provided. We will do our best to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”

RECREATE

As our bodies age a bit, we need to honor the Creator by taking better care of ourselves. God has blessed CBC with all the “on-campus” facilities we could ever need to assist us as we work toward wellness.

Learn More

Recreation/Wellness activities range from:

  • Yoga Classes
  • Pickleball
  • Free Weight/Resistance Training
  • Wellness Through Nutrition
  • Wise Spending Classes
  • And so much more will highlight this important gear in the LOGOS group

WITNESS

In Acts 1:8, Luke writes: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witness in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Learn More

LOGOS ministry will be a shining light in our community, a light that points others to GOD. As we connect with others around us, we will share the love we’ve experienced in Christ with them.

The promotion and developed awareness of the LOGOS ministry with our city will be a key part of the gear. There will be an intentional evangelistic component in everything we do, which includes the fun stuff. LOGOS leaders will be trained in the usage of “social media” to enhance communication not only within our group, but within the church as a whole.
