Call Weekend Information for Candidate for Minister to Families with Children

The Personnel Committee has accepted the recommendation of our Minister to Families with Children Search Committee and is pleased to present candidate Maria Harrington for the position. Call Weekend is August 15 and 16. On Saturday, August 15th there will be a brunch opportunity for families with children. In the afternoon on the 15th there will be another opportunity for teachers, leaders and committee members to visit with the candidate. Any Calvary participant is welcome to attend either event on Saturday. On Sunday morning, Maria will share more about her journey during both worship services. We will have a Special Called Business Meeting on Sunday, August 16th to vote on this recommendation. The Special Called Business Meeting will commence after the adjournment of the Regular Quarterly Meeting already scheduled for that day after the Sanctuary worship service.

Fall Spiritual Formation Retreat, "The Power of Story"

Storytelling is essential to faith as it preserves tradition, shapes identity, and builds community. Make plans to gather as we explore stories of faith and methods of

storytelling at the Fall Spiritual Formation Retreat, "The Power of Story: Learning How to Listen to and Tell Stories of Faith," Adults of all ages are invited and encouraged to invite friends, family, and neighbors. We welcome Dr. John Inscore Essick, pastor and BSK Theological Seminary professor, as our plenary speaker. Participants will also have the opportunity to choose from several breakout sessions to attend. This event is free and free childcare is provided as well for children birth through 5th grade. Check-in and breakfast begin at 8:30AM. Registration will be available here closer to the event.

Women's Bible Study - Monday Mornings Fall 2026

Ladies of all ages are invited to gather for our fall Bible study, "When Faith Becomes Sight" by Jennifer Rothschild on Mondays from 10:45AM–12PM in Rachel’s Room, on the 3rd floor of EB2, September 14 – October 26. This video-based study explores the subject of Heaven from a biblical perspective. Sherry Johnson will facilitate this study and will supplement with information from David Jeremiah. Please purchase your book before the start of the study. A zoom option will also be available.

Wednesday Adult Bible Study begins August 19, 4PM or 6PM

Ancient Truth: A Survey of the Wisdom of the Hebrew Scriptures

Where does one go for wisdom? We have plenty of options in these days. We have more information available to us than in any time in human history. Not only has more data been archived but with the help of internet search engines, we can access it with ease. The trouble often comes with what to make of the information we are receiving. AI tools are developing that give us a summary of information at times; but they fail at providing anything amounting to real meaning. Making meaning of the data, interpreting the information in ways that make it useful to our lives is the function of wisdom. Where does one go for wisdom?

In our Wednesday Bible studies this fall, we will turn to some of the oldest written texts available to us—the wisdom literature of the Hebrew Bible—in our search for every day, practical wisdom. We will spend the fall surveying the books of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs from the Old Testament. (You might want to read ahead this summer!) We will offer two sessions again this fall beginning August 19: 4PM in the Fireside Room and 6PM in Fellowship Hall.

LOGOS Senior Ministry Cincinnati Reds Baseball Game

Those 60 and up are invited to a Cincinnati Reds baseball game on Thursday, August 20. The group will meet at the church and head out at 10AM to travel to the Great American Ball Park to watch the Reds take on the St. Louis Cardinals. The cost is $30 plus your lunch. Learn Mahjong at Calvary

The game of Mahjong has surged in popularity recently and if you've been thinking about learning how to play, now is your chance. Becky Miller is hosting a series of Mahjong classes during July. This 4-week, beginner friendly class starts on Thursday, July 9 and continues on Thursdays the rest of July. Participants can choose between an afternoon session, 1:00-3:00PM or the evening session, 6:00-8:00PM in Rachel's Room located in EB2. Note: Please use the main ROC doors facing Limestone to enter for Mahjong class as these will be the only doors unlocked.

College & Young Adult Ladies Bible Study

College & Young Adult Ladies Summer Bible Study

Summer Bible study is back for our college-age ladies and once again we're inviting rising high school seniors to join us! Our fabulous summer staff will lead our Bible study beginning Sunday, June 14 at 6PM. All are welcome and everything is FREE. We'll meet in different homes throughout the summer and enjoy dinner before we have Bible study. Our first meeting is at Stewart and Shelby Stevens' home.
